This research studies the growth and challenges of the U.S. museums in collaborating for cultural diplomacy during the Cold War, as it has been an overlooked area in both museology and public diplomacy.


Exploring the Intricacies of International Performing Arts Exchange
Presenter: Yan Xiao
This paper uses an analytical framework based on grounded theory to explore how cultural intermediaries shape performing arts exchange programs, especially between US and China.


Indigenous artists responding: Contemporary art and the politics of place
Presenter: Kevin Slivka
15 Indigenous printmakers and 11 non-Native artists responded to the concept-charges of "home" and "protecting the land". Discussion focuses upon the relationships to the politics of place. Allyship and resistance to hegemony are additional themes.
